Radiology

The Department of Radiology is functioning since the start of this institution. X-ray is the busiest department of the hospital after clinical laboratory. We are equipped with three X-ray units; that is, two 500 ma units and 600 ma unit with fluoroscopy and image intensifier and monitor for routine radiography. The department also have one mobile (500 ma unit) and another portable unit for bedside radiography. The Ultrasound section has one multi purpose Ultra Sound unit and one mobile unit for bedside sonography. The department functions round the clock and is supervised by three full time and one visiting Consultant.

Contrast related procedures like myelography, arthrography, sialography, venography and many other procedures are performed in the department. Sonouamography and almost all ultrasound guided procedures are also performed in the ultrasound Department.
There is plan to upgrade the department next year. The new facilities include CT and Ultra Sound Guided Procedures. The plan of installing Colour Doppler, CT scanner and MRI is a big budgeted project and is under consideration.

This department is headed by an experienced qualified Professor. CT Scan, X-ray Plants, Ultrasound, Colour Dopplers, Mammography facilities are available. This department is quite heavily work loaded. Free facilities are offered to the deserving patients.

Facilities Available:

 Ultrasonography 

  • General Routine Studies (Chest, Abdomen, Pelvis)
  • Gynaecological (including follicular monitoring)/ Obstetrical Studies (including 4-D and BPP)-  TAS & TVS
  • Breast and Axillary ultrasound
  • Cranial, Neck, Thyroid, MSK-related Studies
  • Doppler Studies (Carotids, Renal, Testicular, Peripheral arterial and venous)
  • Ultrasound report is delivered within half an hour of scanning.

Mammography (Film-screen)

  • Screening
  • Diagnostic
  • Most of the reports are delivered on the same day. Few patients are called next day for correlative ultrasound.

CT Scanning

  • General (regional) body imaging
  • HRCT (Lungs, Petrous bones etc.)
  • CT Angiography (Carotids, CTPA, Renal, Abdominal etc.)
  • Biphasic Studies (Liver, Pancreas)
  • 3-D Bone Imaging
  • Most of the reports delivered on the same day.

Basic Interventions

  • US / CT guided biopsies

  • Drainage procedures
